The Status Board

Test stream tiles and the outstanding laboratory work table.

The Status Board answers one question: what testing is outstanding, and where is it?

Test stream tiles

Across the top, one tile per test stream currently in the laboratory — for example Field Density Nuclear and Compaction Control Test. Each shows how many are to test and how many tasks are involved.

Use these to see where the queue is building up. A stream with many tasks and one tester is your bottleneck.

Outstanding laboratory work

The table below shows every work request against every test stream, with progress in each cell.

Cells read as tested / approved / total, with preparation and task completion underneath as P and T figures — for example 0 / 0 / 1 with P 0/1 · T 0/8.

A dash means that stream has nothing booked on that request.

Reading a row

Each row gives the work request, its client and project, the progress in every stream, and the due date. Overdue dates show in red.

Scanning the due column for red, then reading across to find which stream is holding that request up, is the fastest way to work out what to do next.

Shared header

The Status Board carries the same metrics and the same New Work Request button as the Work Requests register — it is the same module viewed differently.
