Creating a job

The Create Job wizard: time, project, crew, details, notes and options.

Create Job in the top-right of the Scheduling page opens a wizard that books work, assigns a crew and sets up the paperwork in one pass.

Before you start, note what happens at the end: a docket is created automatically with every new job. You never create dockets yourself.

1. Job and time

  • Job title — what the work is, for example Level 1 compaction testing. This is what shows on the calendar.
  • Starts and Ends — date and time. GeoCRM shows the resulting allocated hours underneath as you change them.

2. Project and location

Choose one of two tabs:

  • Existing project — search by project number, site or client, then pick from the list
  • New project — create the project inline without leaving the wizard

The Site preview map on the right shows where the crew is going. If the panel is flagged Needs location and says this project does not have saved coordinates yet, the job will not appear on the Live jobs map or the GIS Map. It will still be created and still be schedulable — but add coordinates to the project when you can.

3. Team

Tick everyone who is going. The grid lists all active team members. Leaving this empty creates an unassigned job, which will show in the Unassigned count on the Scheduling page.

4. Details

Field Purpose
Category The kind of work
Equipment Reserve a specific asset for the job
Priority Low, Medium or High
Status Starting status, normally Scheduled

5. Notes

Free text for access instructions, testing scope, hazards or anything the crew needs before arriving. This is the field field-staff actually read — use it.

6. Options

  • Billable job — creates the docket as billable. On by default.
  • Test request — also generates a client test request form.

Dispatch summary

The panel on the right totals up what you've chosen — project, shift length and how many team members are assigned — so you can sanity-check before committing. Click Create Job to finish.
