Adding a client

The two-step client wizard: identity, contact details and business details.

Create a client from New client in the client register, or from Quick Add → Client on the Dashboard.

Step 1 — Identity and contact

Client type

Choose how this client appears throughout GeoCRM:

  • Organisation — a company, government body or other business
  • Individual — a private client or sole individual

This sets the badge shown in the register and changes the name field in the next section.

Identity

  • Organisation name (or individual name) — required. This is the primary name used in projects, reports and search.
  • Display name — optional. Use it when the legal name is long or formal and you'd rather see something shorter in lists.

Contact details

  • Primary email and Secondary email
  • Primary phone and Alternate phone
  • Website

None of these are required to create the client, but the primary email is needed before you can email the client from a job.

Click Continue.

Step 2 — Business details

Commercial information — business numbers and billing address. These flow through to invoicing and to generated documents.

Click through to finish. The client is created and you land on their workspace.

Creating a client during job booking

You don't have to create the client first. The Create Job wizard lets you create a new project inline, and clients can be attached later from the project record. If you're booking urgent work, book it — tidy the client record afterwards.
