In-situ and field tests
SPT, DCP, CPT, vane shear, UCS and PID records.
The Field tests tab captures in-situ measurements taken in the hole.
Quick-add buttons
Two of the most common tests have their own buttons:

- New SPT — standard penetration test
- New DCP — dynamic cone penetrometer
Other test types
Other Test opens the rest:
| Test | Full name |
|---|---|
| CPT | Cone penetration test |
| Vane shear (VST) | In-situ vane shear |
| UCS | Unconfined compressive strength |
| PID | Photoionisation detector reading |
| Other | Anything not covered above |
How tests display
Each test shows with its depth and headline result, for example SPT at 2.35 m — 11 blows. Use the pencil to edit and the bin to delete.
SPT and the log
SPT results appear in the samples and test result column of the engineering log alongside the sample they were taken with, so an SPT recorded here connects to its sample automatically by depth.
DCP tests here versus the DCP module
A DCP recorded in this tab is part of the borehole log. The separate DCP Tests module holds standalone DCP field records with full CBR interpretation, and those can be linked to a ground log. Use this tab for a DCP within a hole, and the DCP module for a standalone pavement test. See The DCP test register.
