The GIS Map

Layers, log types, display modes, basemaps, finding records and unmapped data.

The GIS Map plots every spatial record in your workspace on one map. Where the Dashboard's live map shows only today, this shows everything.

Map layers

Each layer has a colour, a live count and a checkbox:

Projects
Jobs
Ground Logs
Saved Sections

Untick a layer to remove it from the map.

Ground log types

Ground logs can be filtered further by investigation type, each with its own count and colour:

Borehole
Trial Pit
CPT
Monitoring Well

Display modes

Mode	Use it for
2D	Normal plan view
3D	Tilted perspective
Density	A heat map showing where your work concentrates
Surface	Interpolated ground surface

Surface is scoped to a single investigation. This is deliberate: it prevents unrelated ground logs from being interpolated together into a surface that doesn't mean anything.

Basemap and labels

The Basemap dropdown changes the underlying map style. Show Ground Log labels turns location labels on and off — worth turning off when points are dense.

Finding a record

The Visible records list below the layer controls holds everything currently plotted, with a count. Search it, or scroll it, then click any entry — the map flies to that record and opens a detail card showing its coordinates and an Open Project link.

Standard scroll to zoom, drag to pan

Unmapped records

A notice in the corner reports how many records could not be plotted, for example 11 grid-only or unmapped Ground Logs are not plotted. These are records without usable coordinates. They still exist and are still searchable — they just have nowhere to sit on the map.

## Display modes
