Creating a project
Project details, why coordinates matter and creating projects inline.
Create a project from New project in the project register, from Quick Add → Project on the Dashboard, or inline while booking a job.
The essentials
- Project name — usually the site address, for example 453 Victoria Street
- Site address — the full address including suburb, state and postcode
- Client — who the work is for
Coordinates
Setting the project's latitude and longitude is optional, but it drives several things:
- The project appearing on the GIS Map
- Its jobs appearing on the Dashboard's Live jobs map
- The Site preview in the Create Job wizard
- The Project location map and Get directions on the project record
Without coordinates the project still works normally — it just can't be plotted. If you see this project does not have saved coordinates yet anywhere in the application, this is what it means.
Creating a project inline
The Create Job wizard has a New project tab, so you can book work at a brand-new site without stopping to create the project first. The project is created with the details you provide and can be filled out properly afterwards.
