Managing an equipment record
Asset identity, custody and why certification dates matter.
Manage on an equipment row opens the asset record.
Asset identity
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Equipment name | Required — how the asset appears everywhere |
| Category | Groups assets for filtering |
| Status | Active or otherwise |
| Serial number / registration | Serial or vehicle registration |
| Asset code / SKU | Your internal asset code |
| Brand / make | Manufacturer |
| Model | Model designation |
The description notes these are the core details used on jobs, schedules and equipment records — the name is what appears when someone picks equipment for a job, so make it recognisable.
Custody and compliance
| Field | Notes |
|---|---|
| Assigned to | Current custodian, or Unassigned |
| Assigned by | Who issued it |
| Registered / certified until | Next registration or certification date |
Why the expiry date matters
Registered / certified until feeds the Needs attention metric. For a nuclear density gauge, a calibrated balance or an oven, this date is what evidences that results taken with the asset are valid.
Keep it current. A result produced with an instrument that was out of calibration at the time of test is not defensible, and finding that out during an audit is expensive.
