Groundwater observations
Encountered, standing and seepage water levels.
The Groundwater tab records water observed during and after drilling.
Adding an observation
Click Add Observation and record the water level, the observation type and when it was observed.
Observation types
- Encountered — water first met while drilling
- Standing — the level water settles to after a period
- Seepage — water entering slowly through the hole wall
Recording the type matters. Water encountered at 3 m while drilling and a standing level of 0.6 m the following morning describe very different ground conditions, and the distinction is lost if only a depth is recorded.
How observations display
Each shows as a card with the type and level, the observation date and a water level note — for example Standing at 0.60 m, 6 Nov 2014, Water level · 06-11-14.
On the log
Groundwater observations appear in the water column of the engineering log, drawn at the recorded level.
