Opening the Subsurface Log Studio
The Studio layout, the six views, engineering state and reference systems.
The Subsurface Log Studio is a dedicated workspace for logging investigations. It opens in its own tab.
Getting there
Two routes:
- Click any row in the Ground Logs register
- From a job, open the Ground logs tab and click an existing log set, or New Log Set
The layout
Three columns:
Left — Investigation locations. Every location in this log set, with its type, depth and data counts. Click to switch between them.
Centre — the workspace. Whatever view you have selected in the top bar.
Right — Live graphical log. A continuously updating preview of the engineering log sheet for the current location. It redraws as you type, so you can see the effect of what you're entering.
The top bar
Six views:

On the right sit Borehole PDF, a download button, a log actions menu and the engineering state dropdown.
Engineering state
The dropdown in the top-right moves the whole investigation through:
- Draft — being logged
- In review — with the reviewing engineer
- Final — approved for issue
The footer
The bottom-left corner shows the reference systems in use: GDA2020 / MGA for horizontal coordinates, AHD for levels, and metric depth. Check these match your project before issuing anything.
